Wardrobe Change

Following Jesus isn't about putting our old life under better management—it's about living from the new identity we've been given in Christ. In Colossians 3, Paul uses the picture of changing clothes to show us what transformation looks like. We're called to take off the old habits and attitudes that no longer belong in our lives and put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and love. This wardrobe change isn't something we do once; it's a daily decision to live like the new person Christ has made us to be. The Christian life doesn't begin with “Try harder,” but with the truth that we have been raised with Christ. Each new day gives us another opportunity to take off the old and put on the new.
