Gospel Tidings – Mary and Joseph in the Temple: A Model for Difficult Conversations– Mary Hooton and Fr Eamonn – 23rd Sunday OT [Year A]

Mary Hutton and Fr Raymond McCarty read the Gospel for the 23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time, Matthew's instructions for confronting a brother who has done wrong and the escalating steps that follow if he won't listen. Fr Raymond traces where that road can lead, as far as canon law and excommunication, while Mary turns to the finding of Jesus in the temple for a very different way of approaching someone in the wrong. They close with Psalm 94 and a word on confession, and on what it means for two or three to agree in prayer.<br />
