The Reign of the True King

Herod kills James, arrests Peter, and sets four squads to guard him, and the church's response to real, mortal danger is not strategy but prayer. An angel walks Peter past sleeping soldiers and a gate that opens on its own, while Herod, who let a crowd call him a god, is struck down and dies. Luke's verdict on the whole ordeal is quiet and confident: the word of God kept increasing and multiplying.
