<p>Leadership paths meander, and more so when we apply it to public service.</p><p>In this episode of <em>Sharpening Her Edge</em>, Dr. Susan Hughes sits down with Julie Gable to explore the many paths leadership can take — from business and entrepreneurship to community service, nonprofit boards, behavioral healthcare, and ultimately public office.</p><p>After graduating from Arizona State University, Julie began her career at Accenture before becoming an owner and leader of a local technology consulting company. She later launched a boutique consulting firm focused on behavioral healthcare and, in 2024, became CEO of one of Arizona’s leading behavioral health organizations. In 2022, the Phoenix Business Journal recognized her as one of Arizona’s Outstanding Women in Business.</p><p>Julie’s leadership has also extended deeply into her community through service on the boards of the Arizona Humane Society and the Phoenix Zoo. Now, that path has led her into a new arena as she runs for the Arizona State House of Representatives.</p><p>Susan and Julie talk about how leadership evolves, what draws someone toward public service, and how the skills built across business, family, community involvement, and service can shape the next chapter.</p><p>It’s a conversation about following the unexpected turns, stepping into new rooms, and recognizing that leadership can take many different forms.</p><p>Thank you, Julie, for joining us today.
