Monk Mode Already Existed a Thousand Years Ago (Desert Fathers) | Smarter While You Sleep

<p>Long before "monk mode" was a hustle-culture hashtag, a handful of people walked out into the emptiest desert on earth and actually ran the experiment — all the way to the end. Tonight, let Grandpa Huxley carry you gently through twenty-seven of their lives: the man who gave everything away and then made sure no one could ever find him, the bandit who chose to die in peace, the woman who fought the same battle for thirteen years and never once asked for it to stop, and the wise old fathers who, after a lifetime of pushing their bodies past every limit, arrived at something so soft it would get them laughed out of any productivity seminar alive.</p><p><br /></p><p>🎥 <a href="https://www.patreon.com/GrandpaHuxley/posts/custom-episode-3-169039152?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&amp;utm_source=copyLink&amp;utm_campaign=postshare_fan&amp;utm_content=web_share" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Commission your own custom Grandpa Huxley vid here.</a></p><p>👋 Support me <a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/033yM59LUygL9RZp8ndqeU?si=wg6Ehly-QlyEbpFlFYRNtA" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here on Spotify</a>, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/61586192199061/support/?surface=permalink_subscribe_url&amp;entrypoint_surface=comet_permalink" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">on Facebook</a>, or <a href="https://www.patreon.com/cw/GrandpaHuxley/membership" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">on Patreon</a></p><p><br /></p><p>You don't have to believe a single word of their religion to need what they figured out.
