Being saved does not mean the work is finished. The God who saves us is also committed to forming us, transforming us, renewing our minds, developing our discernment, and shaping our lives according to the image of Christ.</p><p>Formation requires participation. It requires our cooperation with the Holy Spirit as He confronts what is not aligned with Christ, establishes truth within us, and teaches us how to live from our new identity.</p><p>Too many believers have been taught how to receive salvation but have never been taught what it means to be formed after salvation. But discipleship was never intended to stop at conversion. The expectation is growth. The expectation is maturity. The expectation is transformation.</p><p>Salvation saves you. Formation shapes you.</p><p>This lesson will help you understand why spiritual formation is essential to the Christian life, why transformation goes deeper than behavior modification, and why becoming a disciple requires more than simply believing in Jesus.
