The Nightmare of Misjudging Yardage on a Bull Elk at Full Draw | 100% WILD Podcast Ep. 480

In this episode of the 100% WILD Podcast, Matt Drury and Tim Kjellesvik kick off the opening of fall hunting seasons with raw, honest discussions on bowhunting mechanics, field mishaps, and current outdoor news. Tim reflects on his previous Dream Season Live hunt analyzing the high-pressure situation of misjudging yardage and giving a 350 class bull elk a haircut at 35 yards while letting down multiple times. Matt discusses his ongoing psychological battle with target panic, detailing the frustrating feeling of sight pins holding four inches low on the target face and sharing specific form adjustments—like lowering the release elbow, to help elevate the bow arm without punching the trigger.

The hosts also tackle outrageous stories making headlines across the outdoor community. They break down a terrifying incident in Fenton, Missouri, where an Amazon delivery truck's windshield and packages were pierced by a stray 400 FPS crossbow bolt after a neighbor overshot his target from 100 yards away, sparking a vital conversation about suburban backyard shooting safety and backstops. Additionally, the crew rallies behind a 7 year old girl who faced viral online death threats from an Illinois school employee after sharing a picture of her first dove hunt, before closing out with early season EHD herd health concerns and 70-year-old Terry Drury slalom water-skiing.
