Today's reading from Isaiah 39–40 and Colossians 4 invites us to reflect on how God meets His people in seasons of change, when one chapter is closing and the next has not yet come into view. Both passages remind us that God's presence and purposes continue through every transition, forming us over time in ways we can't always see.

In Isaiah, Hezekiah's pride opens the door to a sobering word about exile in Babylon. Then the scene shifts, and God's first words to His scattered people are words of comfort. He speaks tenderly, promises that the grass will fade but His word will stand forever, and reminds them that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. It is a picture of God reshaping the identity of a people learning to trust Him again.

In Colossians, Paul calls believers to devote themselves to prayer, to stay watchful and thankful, and to let their speech be full of grace. As he closes the letter with greetings to faithful companions, he urges Archippus to complete the ministry he received from the Lord, a gentle reminder that each of us is called to faithfulness in our own season.

Together, these passages invite us to consider where we find ourselves between what has ended and what is still ahead. They ask us to reflect on how God's comfort might steady us as we learn to trust Him in the transition.
