Dropping balls, brain farts & are these our last babies!?
Are these babies our last?! This week we’re sitting in that very weird space between babies growing up and big kids flying the nest, with Isaac heading off to college, Wyatt officially becoming a teenager and Esme hitting double digits. Meanwhile, the toddlers are TODDLERING, and somehow no matter how many children you’ve had, a full-blown tantrum can still make you feel like a first-time parent. We chat about communicating with little ones before they have the words for their giant feelings, some of our tried-and-true resources like RIE parenting and Dr. Siggie, and the impossible juggle of emotionally regulating one child while four others need you RIGHT NOW.
Then there’s the mother load. Too many tabs open, unanswered emails, dropped balls, four different schools for Teresa, two for Sarah, attempting to delegate while also feeling like you’re letting everyone down, and discovering that your only available “work hours” are 9–11pm… when you can barely keep your eyes open.
Plus, meet the newest member of the Palmer family: Velvet the miniature horse, Prairie’s very magical and surprising last minute 5th birthday present. And somehow we end up maybe with the greatest podcast moment of all time when Sarah has an absolutely spectacular Sigourney Weaver/Carrie Fisher brain fart that sends us down a wildly inaccurate pop-culture rabbit hole and has us crying laughing.
