Passed On: The Laying On of Hands — Hebrews 6

Hebrews 6 puts the laying on of hands on its list of elementary doctrines of Christ. That's surprising, since very few churches would think to put it in a statement of faith. This Sunday's message walks through six things Scripture keeps tying to the practice: blessing, authority, receiving the Holy Spirit, commissioning for ministry, spiritual gifts and healing. It shows that there is nothing magical in our hands, but that God has always worked through His people to bless, pray for and send others. The call is simple and personal: what God has given us is meant to be passed on, so who are you putting your hands on, praying for and preparing to go farther than you?
