A Journey Through Song: Wayne Watson and Michael Omartian

In this special episode of The Wayne Watson Podcast, Wayne revisits the music he created with legendary producer and longtime friend Michael Omartian, sharing the memories and moments of inspiration behind some of their most notable work together.

Rather than the traditional conversational format, this episode offers a journey through the songs themselves. Wayne reflects on the people and experiences that shaped each one—from writing “The Ones Left Standing” after his father’s death, to the conversation with former Green Bay Packer Ken Ruettgers that inspired “For Such a Time as This,” and the conviction behind “Field of Souls” that every calling has a place in God’s work.

Part listening session, part reflection, tune in for a rare look behind the music and into the ideas that gave these songs life—celebrating both Wayne and Michael’s creative partnership and the messages that continue to resonate years later.
