On a fall weekend in South Bend, Indiana, you can hear the Notre Dame marching band from the river while swinging a fly for steelhead.

Tim Scott has spent more than 30 years fishing these waters where steelhead, St. Joe smallmouth, and streamer fishing are all part of the experience. He is also the co-founder of Tie-A-Thon, which started with a goal of a couple thousand flies and has now passed 500,000, supporting groups that use fly fishing for education, therapy, veterans, and kids.

We also dig into Tim’s steelhead setup, his sink-tip system, and a Clouser-style minnow inspired by the work of Fox Statler and Kevin Feenstra.
