When investigators caught up with him, he allegedly claimed he was a time traveler from the year 2256! What has never been in question is that he did, in fact vanish from a secured, guarded facility. All guards where given polygraph testing (lie detector tests) and all passed with flying colors.

But here's the twist: the story was not a hoax, a verified true case. The story took on a life of it's own on the supermarket tabloid newspapers of the day and spread around the internet after people repeated the utter fascination of it.
