Tom Good (Richard Briars) and his wife Barbara (Felicity Kendal) give up the middle class rat race to adopt a sustainable and (almost) self sufficient lifestyle in their Surbiton home. Their eccentric new lifestyle, as well as the various chickens, pigs and goats they introduce to their garden, horrify and confuse their best friends and - highly conventional - neighbours, Margo and Jerry Leadbetter (Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington).
