Reiki History Update - Whoopsie!

New historical documents have come to light (via Justin Stein) that suggest Hawayo Takata was telling the truth when she said Usui was headmaster at a Christian School! His CV includes time in the US and Taiwan, much as Takata had described. Hawayo Takata’s account was dismissed as story telling in the late 1990s and early 2000s when evidence researched by Frank Arjava Petter and others indicated Usui was in fact Buddhist. But it appears he took his wife’s name - Suzuki - and perhaps this is what hindered research at the time. This is an important adjustment. It describes the originator of Reiki as someone open to different religious ideologies. It also reminds us to hold lightly the content and education of Reiki, rather than solidifying it into a ‘truth’. New ‘truths’ come to light all the time.
