Lashaya Stine

On the night of July 14, 2016, a sixteen-year-old girl in Aurora, Colorado told her mother goodnight. She then went to her room and went out the window. She was picked up on surveillance video near a bus stop in the 1600 block of North Peoria Street. But Lashaya Stine never made it home.

Police wrote Lashaya off as a runaway at first, but she wasn’t a troubled kid. She was an honors student. She wanted to be a nurse, and had just been selected for an internship at the University of Colorado Hospital. She even had a job interview scheduled the next morning. She had no reason to leave and had taken nothing with her. As investigators dug into Lashaya, the evidence began to show that whatever happened to her that night, she hadn’t planned on staying gone.
