Critical Minerals Stocks and Trump's New Executive Order — Bizarro World 373
The free version of Episode 373 of Investing in Bizarro World is now live.
This week, Nick and Gerardo examine whether gold is finally starting to decouple from higher bond yields and a stronger dollar. The 10-year Treasury pushed toward 52-week highs, oil climbed back above $100, and Fed rate-hike odds increased — yet gold held the $3,900–$4,000 area and began putting in higher lows.
Copper continues to lead the metals complex, holding around $6.30 while gold and silver work through their consolidations. The larger opportunity may be in critical minerals, where Trump issued another executive order aimed at strengthening domestic supply chains and reducing the Pentagon’s reliance on foreign sources of magnets, tantalum, gallium, germanium, and other strategic materials.
The junior explorers are also starting to deliver. Drill programs are active, delayed summer programs are coming online, assays are entering the market, and Gerardo believes investors should prepare for a sharper move beginning in the second half of August. The companies that kept working through the summer doldrums may be the first to get rewarded when capital returns.
Then things get fully Bizarro: U.S.-Israel military integration, congressional stock trading, inflation calculations, $6 diesel, political donations, prediction-market insider trading, Sophie Cunningham and women’s sports, armed men taking Forest Service employees hostage, and New Yorkers waiting hours for TikTok-famous frozen yogurt.
