Hearing Aid Abandonment Fuelling Anxiety & Social Isolation
Hearing Aid Abandonment Fuelling Anxiety & Social Isolation
New research from Hidden Hearing suggests many people are giving up on their hearing aids within weeks of being fitted, with more than half stopping within the first two weeks.
The research also highlights the impact that hearing aid abandonment can have on confidence, anxiety and social isolation, while pointing to the importance of realistic expectations and better follow-up care.
To discuss the findings, why people struggle to adapt, and what can be done to help, Chief Audiologist with Hidden Hearing, Tim Pringle joined Alan Morrissey on Thursday's Morning Focus.
