Victor Davis Hanson: Stage Three in the Trade War Means America Is Done Subsidizing Canada

The U.S.-Canada trade war has entered Stage Three—the part where Trump says, “We’re done.”

Trump is done letting Canada run a billion-dollar surplus with the U.S., and he’s making that very clear. If Canada won’t accept fairness and symmetry as the new standard going forward, they may need to find a new business partner.

“ We don't like dependent countries that embrace socialism, and then they mask their failures by having us subsidize you. That's all. Stage Three.”
