The Formula One Italian Grand Prix Review

Kimi Antonelli won the 2025 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, becoming the first Italian driver to win at Monza in approximately 60 years (the last being Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966 for Ferrari). Antonelli started from a deeply penalized grid position and climbed 17 places within 16 laps, ultimately passing Russell on the pit straight to take the lead and hold it to the finish. George Russell finished second and Max Verstappen third, with Norris and Piastri rounding out the top five. Charles Leclerc crashed out on Lap 2 at Parabolica — the same corner where he crashed in 2020 — triggering a red flag and a half-hour stoppage. Both Ferrari drivers failed to finish, leaving team principal Fred Vasseur with significant explaining to do to sponsors.
