<p>Jesus described four types of soil in a parable that was never really about farming. It was about the condition of the human heart and how we receive the Word of God. A hard heart lets truth bounce off the surface. A shallow heart responds with emotion but has no lasting root. A distracted heart gets crowded out by worry and the pull of the world. But a fertile heart hears the Word, understands it, tends it, and produces a harvest that overflows into the lives of others. The seed being scattered is generous and indiscriminate, reaching anyone willing to receive it. The real question is what kind of ground it is landing on in your life.</p>
