Why Chronic Disease Skipped Your Great Grandparents but Not You | Dr. Ben Edwards
Dr. Ben Edwards had a nurse practitioner with celiac disease who ate a breakfast burrito, a hamburger and a cookie in front of him in one afternoon, and was fine. Ben was the only doctor in Garza County, Texas at the time, seeing forty to fifty patients a day, and he says he was taking nobody off their medication, only adding more.
I asked him why he thinks chronic disease was so rare a hundred years ago, what a 1910 report did to American medical training, and the four things he rebuilds in a household before anything else. Ben practised conventional family medicine for seven years before one patient's recovery changed how he works.
