Today’s special guest, Martha Reeves, is one of the most iconic and beloved music superstars the world has ever known. As lead singer of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, her voice helped to define and immortalize the Motown sound, bringing us a string of unforgettable hit songs including “Dancing in the Street”, “Heatwave”, “My Baby Loves Me”, “Come and Get These Memories”, “Nowhere to Run”, “Quick Sand”, “Jimmy Mack”, “I’m Ready for Love” and “Bless You”.

As a solo artist, she’s recorded highly acclaimed albums on the MCA, Fantasy, Phonarama and ARISTA labels. In 1994, she released a very compelling, heart wrenching and inspirational memoir entitled, “Dancing in the Street: Confessions of a Motown Diva”, which is absolutely a must read.

And now, on August 14, 2026, she’ll be releasing her first new album in 22 years, called “Searching”. Her first single from that album, “To Know You Is To Love You”, was released last month and has been climbing the charts, attracting a whole new generation of music lovers to her magical voice and artistry.

The list of prestigious awards and accolades our guest has received is jaw dropping. She’s received the Dinah Washington Award, the Rhythm n’ Blues Foundation Pioneer Award, the Black Woman in Publishing Legends Award and the Dick Clark Soul Award, to name only a few. She’s been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Halls of Fame in Alabama AND Michigan. And get this: in 2023, Rolling Stone Magazine included our guest on its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time. And in 2024, she FINALLY received a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
