416. Q&A: How To Lose Weight Without Passing Diet Culture On To Your Kids

416. Q&A: How To Lose Weight Without Passing Diet Culture On To Your Kids17 Aug22 min

How can you track calories, pay attention to what you're eating and intentionally work toward weight loss without making your kids feel like they need to do the same?

That's exactly what I'm addressing on today's episode after a listener asked how to pursue weight loss when you know little eyes are watching your every move.

As a Dietitian and a mom, I think it's important to talk honestly about this. You should be mindful of how you talk about food, calories and your body around your children, but that doesn't mean you need to feel guilty for wanting to lose weight or work toward your own fitness goals.

In this episode, I'm breaking down 3 things you can start doing today to pursue your own goals while still helping your children develop a positive relationship with food and their bodies. I'm also sharing my perspective on why wanting to lose fat does NOT automatically mean you're setting a bad example for your kids.

We'll talk about how to be intentional about your own nutrition without making your goals your child's goals, what your kids are actually paying attention to, and what really matters when it comes to the example you're setting.
