Wake Up Tri-Counties Samantha Talks New Podiatrist at OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center
OSF St. Luke Medical Center is urging students and families to protect their feet as school, sports, and dorm life resume. Samantha Rux says plantar warts, caused by a virus, can spread in damp shared spaces like locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms. She recommends wearing shower shoes or flip-flops, drying them thoroughly, changing sweaty socks, and disinfecting nail clippers. Anyone noticing wart-like growths on the bottom of the foot should seek care early, as treatment may require removing excess skin and applying acid. OSF is also welcoming podiatrist Dr. Kennedy, now seeing patients in Kewanee and Galesburg. Call 309-852-7700 for details.
