Throwback | Homegrown Horror: The Starkweather Murders and our shocking family connection
This week, we’re reaching back into the Spirits Uncorked vault to revisit one of our favorite episodes: Homegrown Horror: the Starkweather murders.
In 1958, Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate became the center of one of the most infamous murder sprees in American history, leaving 11 people dead across Nebraska and Wyoming.
But this episode became much more personal than we expected. Our grandma joins us to share her memories of growing up in Nebraska during the Starkweather murders. AND, during the conversation, we uncover a surprisingly close connection between our own family and the case that neither of us ever knew about.
It’s true crime, family history, and one very unexpected discovery, which is why this remains one of our favorite episodes we’ve ever recorded.
Pour a glass and join us for a Spirits Uncorked throwback.
