140: AI and Memoir Writing

<p>This episode is for the writer who has either used AI in their drafting or has contemplated using AI to draft. AI is a polarizing topic right now, and people have big feelings. My intention for this episode is to help you understand the heart of the writing process and how using AI can cut your story and impact off at the knees. I know that AI is a tool lots of people are using right now, and I’m actually not here to pass ethical or moral judgment on it. I am, however, going to show you how certain uses of AI are going to ruin your memoir and make it impossible for me to do my job, as well as give you an AI-reset protocol in case you too have been lured in by generative AI in your writing process. Your options depending on what you're trying to do: If you want to reference a past sent email: Kit allows you to publish broadcasts as a public landing page after they've been sent. Once published, it generates a shareable URL you can link to. So you could link to a previous broadcast, but not a future one. If you want to point readers to future content: The cleaner workaround is to link to a relevant page on Charlotte's site (a podcast episode page, a freebie, a sales page) rather than the email itself. If you're trying to create a sequence: That's better handled through Kit's sequences feature rather than linking between broadcasts. What are you trying to connect the two emails around?
