From Kelvington, Saskatchewan, to junior hockey in Weyburn and Kamloops, an NHL playing career, a Memorial Cup championship with the Medicine Hat Tigers, coaching Wayne Gretzky and the Los Angeles Kings to the 1993 Stanley Cup Final, and ultimately becoming one of the most recognizable voices in hockey through his decades with ESPN — Melrose left an unmistakable mark on the game.
