Dickens is correct but also wrong in his DNC snub letter

<p><em><strong>PLUS: Alpharetta&#39;s aversion to icky renters &amp; why would a Billy Linville crossover endorsement matter when Rick cant&#39; get Burt on board?</strong></em></p><p>Earlier this week, the Democratic Party announced its finalists for the 2028 DNC convention and Atlanta didn&#39;t make the shortlist (Denver, Philadelphia and Boston all did); a decision that - on its face - is sort of inexplicable given Georgia&#39;s teetering on the brink of flipping blue with a good solid nudge or two and that the aforementioned finalists have all hosted the convention in recent years. </p><p>Atlanta Mayor <a href="https://www.wabe.org/atlanta-loses-bid-to-host-2028-democratic-national-convention/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>Andre Dickens released a letter </strong></a>of exasperation - not wrong to disagree with the decision to snub Atlanta i n2028 - but he included enough ammunition for the GOP to use in a 2026 midterm cycle that&#39;s beyond-necessary for the party he&#39;s a member of to claw back some power in Congress and in his own state. Hear why I likened his letter to a post-grounding tantrum from a teenager.</p><p><br></p><p>A plan to <a href="https://www.ajc.com/business/2026/08/alpharetta-nhl-hopes-and-north-point-mall-redevelopment-approach-vital-vote/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>develop Alpharetta&#39;s North Point Mall</strong></a> is getting pushback because the developer wants to include - ick! - apartments instead of buyable condominiums and townhomes. That north Fulton County enclave already has some NIMBY-istic laws on the books limiting the number of leasable homes in its city limits, but I can&#39;t help but wonder where they think a new sports arena&#39;s concessions, ticket booth and usher employees are going to live since jobs like those don&#39;t pay well enough for anyone to live IN Alpharetta? </p><p><br></p><p>Who TF is Billy Linville - aside from a guy who dresses a lot like Rick Jcakson? Well, he&#39;s some moderate Democrat mover-n-shaker in Georgia politics (I guess?) <a href="https://jamesmagazinega.com/2026/08/20/republican-jackson-gets-help-from-democrat-friends/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>who&#39;s endorsing &#39;slick Rick.&#39; </strong></a>Meanwhile, prominent Georgia Republican (and current lieutenant governor) Burt Jones s<a href="https://georgiarecorder.com/2026/08/18/bookman-in-a-twist-fit-for-a-greek-epic-jones-could-be-jacksons-achilles-heel/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferer"><strong>till hasn&#39;t warmed to </strong></a>supporting - let alone voting for - Rick Jackson. </p>
