How a breakup fueled my career with Mariana Loebrich

Mariana Loebrich moved from Peru to the US while she was in college and never looked back. Slowly but surely she built a life for herself, and over twenty years in, she has no plans of leaving New York any time soon.

Mariana shares how hard it was for her to make friends when she first immigrated, how she stayed in relationships for too long because her family was so far away that her relationships became her family, and how she made the move from retail to corporate America without a college degree. This is a story of overcoming tough situations, learning to stand on your own two feet, and finding happiness on the other side.

Luciana and Claudia Valdiviezo know what it’s like to move to the U.S. – twice. They were born in Peru and lived there for only a few years until their parents moved the family to the U.S. The sisters kept in touch with their roots, speaking Spanish at home and every Christmas when they visited Peru for the holidays. Then, when they were 12 and 11 respectively, the family moved back to Peru. Growing up both Peruvian and American during those formative years gave Luciana and Claudia a deep understanding of what it means to belong, and not belong, at the same time.
