Episode 48 - The BirdFair Interviews with Jiří Hřebíček8 Aug38 min

In a first for the podcast, Rob and Josh recorded a series of live podcasts at this year’s Global BirdFair in the UK. Recorded in front of a live audience, the pair were joined by a series of guests and recorded three episodes over three days at the event.

In this episode, Rob and Josh are joined by one of the world’s most creative photographers. A master of slow shutter and Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) Jiří Hřebíček shares the story behind his approach and some of the techniques he employs to create the images.

As well as wildlife photographers, we are passionate about conservation and do everything we can to support grass-roots conservation initiatives across the globe. This year, through both WildArt and the podcast, we are supporting Western Australia’s Black Cockatoos through efforts coordinated by Perth NRM.

About Jiri

Jiri is a multi-award winning photographer, originally from the Czech Republic and now living in Switzerland. Among his many accolades is winning the Natural Artistry category in the 2024 Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Birds are at the centre of Jiri’s universe and they have taken him some of the world’s most breathtaking places. In his own words:

“Through my photography, I strive to visualize the motion of birds and to capture more than just a moment — I aim to convey emotion, atmosphere, and imagination. Using various creative techniques, including Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), I create painting-like images that blur the lines between photography and fine art.”

Jiri is also a part of the WildArt Bird Photography Awards judging panel.
