Tristan Lambert and I went to high school together, where I saw firsthand the talent, discipline and dedication that would eventually take him into professional golf.

He represented NSW and Australia, enjoyed an outstanding amateur career and competed in the United States alongside future major champions Dustin Johnson and Webb Simpson. After turning professional, he finished runner-up in the Queensland Open, Victorian PGA and South Australian PGA—but the breakthrough victory never arrived.

In this honest conversation, we look back on Tristan’s journey and discuss the highs and lows of chasing professional golf, the anxiety and nerves he experienced in competition, the pressure of expectations and the realities of life on tour.

We also explore what happens when talent, preparation and hard work don’t lead to the career you imagined—and the lessons Tristan has taken from the journey.
