Proverbs: It's Decision Time - October 4 2026

<p>Every day we are confronted with choices. Some are relatively insignificant, while others have the potential to shape the direction of our lives. But there is one decision that is more important than all the others. It is the decision about what kind of life we are going to live and whose voice we are going to follow. Will we listen to the wisdom of God, or will we follow the foolishness of this world? </p><p>The challenge is that the difference between wisdom and foolishness is not always immediately obvious. Foolishness can look appealing. It can promise freedom, satisfaction, and pleasure, while wisdom may seem demanding, restrictive, or even unattractive. Yet appearances can be deceiving. What seems right in the moment may ultimately lead us in the wrong direction. And what may seem difficult today can lead us toward a life that is pleasing to God. </p><p>This is why the choices we make about wisdom are so important. God has not left us to figure out life on our own. He has revealed His wisdom to us, ultimately and perfectly, in the person of Jesus Christ, who is the true Wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24, 30). As we come to Proverbs 9, we are reminded that life presents us with a choice, and that choice has eternal consequences.
