Madonna’s AWKWARD VMAs, Why Ben Shapiro’s Wrong, Ms. Rachel’s SNAP Rant & Meryl Streep as Aslan

Emily Jashinsky reacts to Madonna’s awkward appearance at the VMAs and what it reveals about celebrity culture and aging, plus Dave Portnoy’s hilarious response and Taylor Swift’s night at the awards. Emily pushes back on Ben Shapiro and Mark Levin over what’s driving President Trump’s declining approval ratings and Americans’ economic frustration, including the impact of the Iran war on energy and gas prices. She also breaks down the close Texas governor’s race and what Gina Hinojosa’s effort to distance herself from the culture war could mean for Republicans. Then Emily responds to Ms. Rachel’s criticism of conservative Christians over changes to SNAP benefits and examines what the new work requirements actually do. She digs into the latest developments in the death of Tasia Fortune and the troubling way the media is reporting on it. Emily rounds out the show by reacting to Greta Gerwig casting Meryl Streep as Aslan in “The Chronicles of Narnia” and explains why she believes the decision reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of C.S. Lewis’ Christian worldview.
