Permission to Break the Agreement

<p>Welcome back to <em>The Power of Permission.</em></p><p>Today we’re talking about a kind of agreement that many of us don’t even realize we’ve made.</p><p>Not a contract we signed.</p><p>Not a promise we spoke out loud.</p><p>But an agreement we quietly accepted somewhere along the way.</p><p>Maybe it sounds like this:</p><p><em>“I’m not enough.”</em></p><p><em>“I have to earn love.”</em></p><p><em>“If I disappoint people, they’ll leave.”</em></p><p><em>“I have to be perfect.”</em></p><p><em>“I’ll never change.”</em></p><p><em>“This is just who I am.”</em></p><p>The problem is, what we repeatedly believe eventually begins to shape how we live. We make decisions from those beliefs. We build relationships around those beliefs. We even begin to think God sees us through those beliefs.</p><p>But here’s the question I want us to wrestle with today:</p><p>What if the story you’re living isn’t the truth God is speaking?</p><p>Throughout Scripture, God continually invited people to exchange lies for truth, fear for faith, shame for grace, and old identities for new ones.
