The Lord is my Shepherd

The Lord is my Shepherd6 sept42 min

What does it mean to truly trust the Lord as our Shepherd? In Psalm 23, David gives us a deeply personal picture of God's provision, guidance, restoration, protection, and presence. The psalm begins with the peaceful imagery of green pastures and still waters, but it also takes us into the valley of the shadow of death. Through every setting, the Shepherd remains faithful.

In this episode, we explore three central truths from Psalm 23: the Shepherd provides for His sheep, the Shepherd restores and guides His sheep, and the Shepherd remains with His sheep in the valley. We consider what it means to trust God's provision when we are anxious, follow His direction when we cannot see the entire path, and depend upon His presence when circumstances become difficult. Psalm 23 reminds us that trusting God does not mean we will never encounter valleys. It means we never have to walk through them alone.

The encouragement of Psalm 23 is especially meaningful when life feels uncertain. We may not know what tomorrow holds, but our Shepherd does. We may not understand the path He has chosen, but we can trust the One who leads us. And when we find ourselves in the valley, we can remember David's confidence: “for thou art with me.” Because the Lord is our Shepherd, we can trust His care through every season of life.
