In this show, we talk about shiitake and other edible mushrooms. We talk about how they can be grown on hardwood logs, especially sugar maple or white oak. Submerging established logs in water about 15°F colder than the air can trigger fruiting, with mushrooms typically ready to harvest in seven to ten days. Growers often sell them fresh and unprocessed, bringing them to customers soon after harvest.
