Let the Linen Speak - Decolonial Fashion Residency 2024

In the last week of June 2024, FASHIONCLASH organized a one-week residency in Maastricht in which ten fashion practitioners reflected on questions of decoloniality, in the Dutch context in general, and in relation to fashion, more specifically. In this soundscape, the residential participants reflect on the question 'When do you feel rooted?

The residency program contained discussions, making sessions, walks, and conversations with guest speakers Zinzi de Brouwer, Sandra Niessen, and representatives from the The Linen Project, Crafts Council Nederland and Tailors & Wearers. Following the residency week, a textile (linen) cloth traveled to Spain, Rotterdam, Amsterdam together with individual participants who organized activities within their own communities.
