The Final Battle, Paid for by You

Something ain't right, and this week we've got a whole list. A federal judge, U.S. District Judge William Young, is side-eyeing the Trump administration's policy that forces HIV providers to disregard their transgender patients. Judge, thank you for asking the question. We've been asking it since the policy dropped: how does ignoring a group of patients help anybody's health?

Then there's the woman who sat in an emergency room for hours, never got treated, and left. The ER still sent her a bill. Let's be clear: you don't get to charge for a service you didn't provide. If we ordered a steak, waited all night, and walked out hungry, that restaurant wouldn't dare hand us a check. But healthcare in this country? Sure, why not.

Next, Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten is reopening the case of an alleged gang rape at Cornell University, but only after news of a civil lawsuit sparked outrage. So it took public fury to get a second look? We're glad it's happening, but we have questions about why it took this long and what it took to get here.

And to top it off, the White House released a new taxpayer-funded ad talking about the "final battle." Our tax dollars. Our money. Paying for that. Something is very, very wrong, and we're not letting it slide.
