Psst...Your House Has a Secret- Training Your Brain to Notice Series
Hey friends! What if your house is tryingb to tell you something? Have you ever walked past the same Lego or bracelet beads again and again? Your eyes saw it...BUT somehow your brain didn't send the message: " Hey! Someone should probably pick that up!"
That's because seeing something and noticing something are two completely different things, especially for an ADHD brain.
In this episode, my 10-year-old daughter and I are taking you on a little detective mission around your own home. Because our spaces are consistantly giving us information.
The backpack by the door. The pile on the counter. The shoes in the hallway. The beads on the floor. But sometimes, epecially with ADHD, our brains get really good at tuning those things out. It doesn't mean you are lazy. It doesn't mean you don't care. And it definitely doesn't mean something is wrong with us. We are just still learning the skill of noticing in different ways.
I also want to help you discover something really cool about your ADHD brain. The same brain that can completely tune out a pile of stuff might notice the tiniest detail that everyone else missed. Your brain isn't bad at noticing. Your brain may just notice differently.
So in this episode, we're going to put on our imaginary detective hats and learn how to tune back in to what our spaces are telling us- without turning it into a giant shame spiral. My daughter and I share why noticing has to come before organizing and how we can practice awareness in a way that feels kind, doable, and actually helpful.
The clues are already there. You just have to learn how to look for them.
I hope you walk away remembering this:
Your space is giving your information all the time. If you don't notice it right away, that isn't a character flaw. Noticing is a skill and skills can grow! So grab your detective hat, look around your space, and let's see what your ADHD brain discovers. Because you might be surprised by just how good your brain really finding clues!
