ORIOLES POSTCAST: Baltimore Orioles' MELTDOWN in 11th Wastes Trevor Rogers’ 11-K Gem vs. Colorado Rockies

THE ORIOLES HAD THIS GAME. Then the 11th inning happened.

Baltimore fell 6-5 to the Colorado Rockies in 11 innings after Grant Wolfram surrendered three runs in the bottom of the 11th. With automatic runner Connor Norby aboard, Wolfram allowed a leadoff single to T.J. Rumfield on a two-seamer over the heart of the plate, bringing a run to make it 5-4.

Then came the crushing blow.

With two runners in scoring position, Wolfram left another fastball in the middle of the zone to backup catcher Brett Sullivan. Sullivan lined it to left field, Luis Robert Jr.’s throw home was offline, and two runs scored to walk it off for Colorado. Just like that, a game the Orioles battled to reclaim was gone.

The frustration is real because the O’s did enough to win it more than once.

Samuel Basallo drove in Luis Robert Jr. in the top of the 11th, then Blaze Alexander ripped an RBI single up the middle to extend Baltimore’s lead. That came after Andrew Kittredge blew the save in the ninth inning with the Rockies down to their final strike. Dadgum.

Josh Walker and Alex Hoppe did their part, bridging the ninth and 10th innings and putting Baltimore in position to finish the job. But the O’s bullpen could not lock down the final outs.

And it spoiled a spectacular night from Trevor Rogers.

Rogers struck out a career-high 11 hitters across 6.2 innings without a walk, becoming the first Orioles pitcher to record 11 strikeouts and zero walks in a game since Corbin Burnes on Opening Day 2024. He gave Baltimore exactly the kind of dominant start it needed at Coors Field, but it was wasted in a painful extra-inning loss.

The Orioles did get an exciting first look at Luis Robert Jr. in his Baltimore debut. After Pete Alonso drove in Blaze Alexander in the third inning, Robert hammered a high fastball off the right-field wall for a two-run double. The opposite-field power was real. La Pantera is here—but this one still hurts.

Baltimore loses two of three in Denver, finishes its road trip at 6-3, and sits at 69-71 on September 2.
