PADRES POSTCAST: PADRES SURVIVE: Offense Explodes, Ray Implodes, Miller Survives in 7-5 WIN @ GIANTS

The San Diego Padres opened their series in San Francisco with a 7-5 win over the Giants, jumping out to a huge early lead before the bullpen had to protect it the rest of the night.

San Diego scored two runs in the second and five more in the third, pounding Giants starter Anthony Molina for seven runs on nine hits in just three innings. Freddy Fermín delivered back-to-back RBI doubles, while Dustin Harris went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored, a walk and an RBI triple. Jackson Merrill added three hits and scored twice as the Padres finished with 12 hits and went 6-for-18 with runners in scoring position.

But a comfortable 7-1 lead suddenly became a game in the fifth when Robbie Ray loaded the bases and Rafael Devers hit a grand slam, cutting the Padres’ lead to 7-5. Ray finished with 5 innings, 4 hits, 5 earned runs, 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.
