Women Aren’t Angry Enough

Women Aren’t Angry Enough2 oct1 h 10 min

Hellooo lovely people of MOS. We’re recording from home again this week, but we promise we’ll be back to regular programming next time!

This one’s a bit of a heavy conversation: we talk about the recent cases of assault against women and the fear, anger and exhaustion they’ve left us feeling. Once again, we’re asking: when will women be able to step out of their homes and feel safe? Will we see that happen in our lifetime? And how do we live with the constant worry that something could happen every time we step out?

We also ask whether Mumbai is actually as safe as we keep telling ourselves it is, and talk about the things we do to protect ourselves (even though that responsibility should NOT actually be on us).

We’d like to hear how you’ve been feeling too. Leave your thoughts in the comments, and share this episode with someone you’d want to have this conversation with.

See you next week. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Chaptering:

00:00 - Introduction

00:32 - Recent vacation deets & how foreigners experience India

02:30 - Why Thailand gets praise for hygiene

03:42 - Talking about women’s safety

05:33 - Living in Mumbai & mental health

08:03 - Sharing a scary stalking experience

11:51 - The first things we carry for safety

15:29 - How girls are taught to limit themselves for safety

17:00 - Experiences with harassment & knowing when to SOS

21:49 - A hot take & the overthinking that follows

24:25 - Men who show up in support of women

25:50 - A message for parents raising boys

28:11 - Indian reality TV & men interacting with women

31:07 - Thoughts on having male guests on the pod

31:56 - Who writes your content?
