NWJ919- Massacre at Minab
In NWJ919, Jose Galison reads Drop Site News’s “Massacre at Minab: The School That Became a Grave,” the investigation by Jeremy Scahill, Murtaza Hussain, and Reza Sayah into the February 28 strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab. The piece draws on survivors, parents, and first responders to document multiple direct hits, including U.S. Tomahawk missiles, that killed at least 156 people—120 of them children, 26 of them teachers—on the opening day of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. A U.N. fact-finding mission later found the school itself was the intended point of impact. This is a live reading, past the paywall, because the reporting has barely registered in public commentary.
Galison comes to it as a father of two teenage daughters who spent more than a decade inside the war machine and is now openly against the empire that ran it. That history is the frame, not the point: the episode stays with the record Drop Site assembled and the near-silence around it.
