Two Marmots Wander Into Bay Area | Oakland News
Another marmot has turned up in Antioch—this is the second one spotted in the Bay Area this month. These mountain-dwelling critters, usually found in the Sierra Nevada, apparently hitched rides on cars or trailers, ending up far from home. The first was rescued in San Francisco’s Mission District; this one was found near Delta Fair Boulevard. Wildlife experts suspect it came from high-altitude areas like near Lake Tahoe after Labor Day weekend travel. Both marmots are now at Yggdrasil Urban Wildlife Rescue, recovering and being prepped for a safe return to their mountain homes. If you were in that Antioch area recently, help them track down where these furry travelers belong.
