Everyday Heroes Save a Teen from a Fiery Crash

On this episode of Paul’s Positive Podcast, Amy Iverson shares a powerful human-interest story about courage, compassion, and strangers stepping up in a life-or-death moment.

After journalist Tom Costello witnessed a devastating high-speed crash involving a 17-year-old driver, he called 911 and rushed toward the wreck. As flames spread under the car, two more strangers joined him—an orthopedic surgeon and a nurse—and together they became an impromptu rescue team.

Amy reflects on the calm, skill, and humanity these three people showed as they stabilized the teen and carried him to safety just moments before the car was completely engulfed and exploded.

This episode is a reminder for you, Paul, that positive stories are not about pretending hard things do not happen. They are about seeing the mercy, bravery, and second chances that can appear right in the middle of chaos.

It is also a moving look at what real bravery means: not the absence of fear, but the choice to act anyway. Amy celebrates these everyday heroes as “upstanders,” showing how kindness, courage, and compassion still rise when they are needed most.
