AI APOCALYPSE: CEO’s Call for Slowdown, Trump Says Keep Going

A public debate is emerging between leading AI developers and the Trump administration over how quickly artificial intelligence should advance and whether stronger safeguards are needed. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, joined other industry leaders in calling for a slower pace of AI development, while President Donald Trump argued that the benefits of AI will outweigh the risks and warned against overregulation.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is calling for the AI industry to slow the development of increasingly powerful artificial intelligence systems. The warning comes shortly after former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon resigned and criticized both Anthropic and OpenAI, arguing that AI companies are moving too aggressively toward increasingly powerful systems without sufficient safeguards.
