Gunman Opens Fire on Church in Jordan
Persecution.org reports that on Friday, gunmen opened fire during a funeral at Hamound Church, a Greek Orthodox Church in Karak governorate, Jordan. At least seven people were killed and 34 others were injured.
Authorities have launched an investigation. Karak has a known minority Christian population.
Footage on Jordanian state television shows three gunmen, two men with pistols and another man with a semiautomatic rifle shooting as the three gunmen move toward the church building.
King Abdullah II stated on X that Jordan will “confront the terrorist act that targeted Karak with the harshest penalties”
He also offered his deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and to those recovering.
Revelation 2:10 and 11 says, ‘...Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.’
Christian Group Responds to Ebola Outbreak in the Congo
Christian Today reported that an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has now spread to eight provinces, raising fears that infections could approach 10,000 and deaths could reach 5,000 in the coming weeks.
Christian relief organization Tearfund reports an average of 71 new cases daily. Armed conflict, medical supply shortages, limited clean water, and misinformation are making containment efforts increasingly difficult.
Poppy Anguandia, Tearfund’s Country Director in the Congo, says, “Those saying goodbye to loved ones who have died of this disease need a lot of support, care and understanding as they play a crucial role in preventing further infections”
