Authorities reported roughly 550,000 demonstrators, with Interior Ministry figures near 2,400 arrests and nearly 1,000 police and gendarmes injured. Shops were looted, vehicles burned, and public buildings attacked in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and elsewhere. In Limoges the 143-year-old neo-Renaissance town hall was deliberately set ablaze by masked groups. The roof and clock tower collapsed, leaving most of the historic structure destroyed in what officials called a heritage catastrophe. Similar arson hit Lyon's tourist office while other civic sites faced graffiti and break-ins.
