Stop Measuring Yourself by Who You Used to Be | You’re Still Becoming

What if the person you’re comparing yourself to the most… is you?

The younger you. The faster you. The thinner you. The more energetic, productive, ambitious, or confident version of you that you remember.

As we get older, comparison doesn’t always come from looking at other people. Sometimes it comes from looking backward—and quietly believing that who we used to be is the standard for who we should still be today.

In this episode of Sole Talk, I’m talking about what happens when we stop measuring our present selves against our past selves.

We’ll explore why we tend to romanticize younger versions of ourselves, how easily “I used to…” can become a measuring stick, and why aging isn’t simply about what we’ve lost. It’s also about everything we’ve gained—wisdom, experience, perspective, self-knowledge, and a deeper understanding of what actually matters.

Maybe the goal isn’t to get the old you back.

Maybe the question is:

Who am I now—and who am I still becoming?

Your younger self isn’t your competition. She’s part of your story.

Honor her. Thank her. And keep going.

If conversations about aging, movement, mindfulness, mental health, and living fully resonate with you, subscribe to Sole Talk and join me as we continue changing the way we think about getting older.

#StopComparingYourself #HealthyAging #AgingWell #StillBecoming #SelfAcceptance #PersonalGrowth #WomenOver50 #WomenOver60 #MindBodySpirit #SoleTalk
